Underwriting Specialist, Inland Marine

AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber and Multinational Clients. How you will create an impact:

• Underwriting and managing an existing book of Inland Marine risks and developing and underwriting a pipeline of new business opportunities across the country
• Collaborating with peers in other regions and providing technical underwriting support on existing accounts in those regions, ensuring a consistent approach to market throughout the country.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients
• Communicating our value proposition with our brokers and clients and demonstrating our right to win
• Identifying future industry trends, understand how they will impact ours our clients business and developing new strategies around those trends
• Communicating to internal stakeholders on the profitable of the portfolio
• Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients.
• Attend client/broker meetings, presentations and relevant industry events on behalf of the company.
• Participating in special underwriting projects as needed.

What you will need to succeed:

• Experience in the Inland Marine insurance market preferred; will consider a background in Property Underwriting
• Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university
• Advanced working knowledge of the Inland Marine of business including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks etc.
• Ability to rapidly evaluate, prioritize and select submissions to be underwritten.
• Ability to analyze policy wordings
• Demonstrated knowledge of current market conditions, trends and the ability to leverage that knowledge to give us right to win
• Relationships with tier 1 and 2 brokers and the ability to develop new relationships
• Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to sound underwriting discipline
• Willingness to travel 25% of the time

For positions based in California, the base salary range is $97,000 - $134,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
