Job Description
Reports to the Assistant Online Manager. Works as a member of the marketing and communications team and serves in digital branding and design. Responsibilities include creating a strong and unified image with usability and simplicity for the end user experience while balancing design creativity with technical constraints of various electronic mediums. Produces appealing visual design, creative original artwork, clear user experience and web design structure for digital communications. Sees digital design projects through to completion, including quality assurance testing of development and synthesizing and analyzing data from multiple resources and generating reports. Designs and builds experiences that support the ministry in achieving its major initiatives and goals.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction, functionality, and design ideas
Collaborate to create intuitive solutions for every part of the customer journey from cold to hot prospects and existing users
Initiate creation of digital personas and journeys, running discovery/ideation and design, usability testing (QA/QC/UAT), and development of sketches/concepts to wireframes
Execute all visual design stages for our suite of web and mobile applications from concept to final hand-off to developers, including front-end assets
Create a strong and unified image with usability and simplicity for the end user experience while balancing design creativity with technical constraints of various electronic mediums
Provides digital design and user experience expertise to the marketing and communications team and supports and trains university staff and community on the use of the digital brand standards
Designs and builds experiences for the end user that support the ministry achieving its major initiatives and goals
Front-end coding: Collaborate closely with web developer, communicating design specs and collaborating on user interface (UI) patterns
Create additional user and usability testing as needed throughout the end-users’ journey to ensure an enjoyable experience and desired university result
Creates visual treatments and graphic elements/assets
Design and document mockups, layouts, style guides, and digital brand standards for interactive projects that begin (and end) with the user in mind
Perform A/B testing to prove or disprove hypotheses that affect page performance and adapt to new findings
Present designs, findings and key milestone deliverables to peers and stakeholders
Have UX/UI design best practices and techniques, SEO, style guides, website optimization and digital content strategy
Coordinate and participate in assigned projects, following the project from beginning to end to ensure that the project supports the attainment of ministry goals, including a timely, accurate, and quality deliverable
Communicate regularly with the Assistant Online Manager on issues, challenges, and breakthroughs with projects
Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
Continued education in project management, quality assurance and online marketing techniques
5 years of experience in software product design, development and software product launch
Experience in video editing, web development, and photography applications
Experience with the creation of digital personas and journeys
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Exhibit creativity, resourcefulness and a passion for web work
Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Suite CS5/CS6
Through knowledge of UX/UI design best practices and techniques
Thorough Knowledge of SEO and website optimization
Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision
A good problem solver with the ability to react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require quick response and turnaround
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Basecamp, Wrike and/or other Project Management software
Ability to take projects and walk them through all channels to completion
Ability to handle deadline pressures professionally
Ability to motivate individuals to complete their portion of a project
Ability to create and present professional presentations
Ability to articulate project direction and directives and follow ministry trends as well as market trends
Good working knowledge of online marketing techniques and social media marketing
Goal-oriented, understanding and utilizing effective time management practices
Creative, analytical thinker, conscious, consistent, progressive
Must be detail-oriented and accurate

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones and other office equipment.
Must be able to stand and or sit for a ten-hour work shift.
Must be able to pull, push, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, move or carry equipment
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
Must be organized and require a small amount of immediate supervision.
Must understand vague and implicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard office environment.
Must be flexible regarding the physical location of work area.
