Overview API Chaya empowers survivors of gender-based violence and human trafficking to gain safety, connection, and wellness. We build power by educating and mobilizing South Asian, Asian, Pacific Islander, and all immigrant communities to end exploitation, creating a world where all people can heal and thrive. API Chaya is seeking a Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Survivor Advocate who will work within API Chaya’s DV/SA Program to provide intensive case management and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Advocate should excel at survivor-centered advocacy, managing competing priorities, and facilitating access to services for clients as well as building relationships within and communicating effectively with diverse communities and partners. Responsibilities Provide intensive case management and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault under the supervision of the Program Manager. Provide culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assaults, including: initial assessment and intakes, advocacy-based counseling, safety planning, information sharing, domestic violence education, referrals and advocacy within other systems including legal, medical, housing, etc. Provide professional and survivor-centered case management for domestic and foreign national victims of human trafficking to maximize access to resources and skill building while minimizing isolation. Collaborate with governmental and nongovernmental partners to provide survivors with services, especially housing, medical attention, legal advocacy and immigration relief, in a way that protects their confidentiality and rights. Answer calls from survivors, family and friends of survivors, and other service providers working with survivors. Organize, support and co-facilitate survivor leadership groups, psycho-educational workshops, and survivor gatherings and support groups. Prepare and distribute materials, cultivate and maintain relationships and occasionally conduct training for relevant service providers, organizations, and community members. Maintain up-to-date case records, and complete relevant documentation and reporting of program activities, including monthly reports and assistance with grant reporting. Work on program development and support collaborations across teams that strengthen our organization’s commitment to serve immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Support API Chaya's growing Intern Program through providing oversight, guidance, and evaluation of students' work within both direct services and community organizing at the agency. Build relationships with and communicate effectively with diverse communities and partners. Telecommuting permitted from within normal commuting distance up to 60%. Minimum Qualifications Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Social Work or related field At least six (6) months of experience in a Social Work-related occupation, including at least six (6) months experience in each of the following: Working with domestic violence and/or sexual assault survivors; Understanding and practicing within communities experiencing historical trauma, with interventions that are empowering, culturally relevant, and culturally responsive; Client case management; Crisis intervention; Identifying and addressing barriers to services and facilitating access to services by building and maintaining relationships with services providers; Assessing the need for and distribute emergency funds and resources to client(s); Leading and facilitating support groups; and Empowerment-based advocacy. Compensation Based on experience, full time (1.0 FTE) compensation for this position ranges from $73,124 - $80,437 DOE.
