Education and/or Experience: Minimum requirement – Bachelor’s degree(B.A.) from a four year college or university. Works well with a team, good communication skills, dependable.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Eligible or already in possession of a Colorado Teaching License/certificate endorsed in the area of assignment.

ELA
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals—established clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials (including field trips) that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnosis the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Assists the administration implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignment of teacher aides and/or volunteers, and cooperatively with principals evaluates their job performance.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service training programs and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Maintains records and makes such reports as required and directed by the administration.
ELL
The ELL Teacher will provide specialized language instruction to our English Language Learners and collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure our English Language Learners develop English language proficiency and achieve academic success.
  • Screen Home Language Surveys
  • Administer the W-APT or WIDA Screener, interview parents/guardians, and collect a body of evidence to determine student eligibility for the ESL program in conjunction with the ELL Coordinator.
  • Actively participate with a team (classroom teacher, building principal, specialist(s), parent, and ELL Coordinator) in building a student’s English Language Acquisition Plan (ELAP) review the progress of ELLs in language acquisition and academic achievement to determine continuation in the ESL program or redesignation and determine appropriate instructional and assessment accommodations
  • Set language goals and determine the appropriate strategies to build a student’s language profile (background information, years attended in the United States schools/language of instruction, strengths as a learner, interests, etc.)
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other district staff in order to design language services that are closely aligned to the district’s core curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Provide support for English Language Learners, while creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest, and abilities of students.
  • Administer the WIDA ACCESS annually.
  • Assesses and communicates the progress of students’ language development on a regular basis to parents, classroom teacher, and ELL team.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records.
  • Attend IEP, MTSS, CST, Section 504, parent/teacher conferences or other related meetings as needed.
  • Ability to coach and provide professional development opportunities.
  • Establishes partnerships with the community as appropriate in support of the ELL program.
  • Actively participate in end of the year evaluation meetings on student academic and language progress.
  • Actively participate in re-designation meetings.

Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
