Tax & Audit Manager

Are you passionate about making an impact in students’ lives and their communities through the education system?

Charter Success Partners is seeking a highly organized and motivated Tax & Audit Manager to join our team. This role is crucial to our mission of providing peace of mind and financial security for charter school boards and administrators. You'll play a key role in ensuring our charter school clients are financially compliant and can focus on their most important mission: academic excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Manage Annual Audits: Act as the primary liaison between auditors and our Fractional CFO Directors for over 40 charter schools, tracking progress from start to completion.

  • Oversee Tax & Compliance: Support finance managers in filing state and federal payroll tax returns, prepare and manage W-2 mailings, and file State and Federal Quarterly Returns.

  • Financial Reconciliation: Review and reconcile financial accounts and balance sheets for accuracy.

  • Client Support: Assist schools with state and federal tax notices, prepare and send sales tax refund forms, and manage EIN/State IDs.

  • General Administration: Track and ensure DUNS/Sam.gov accounts are registered annually and support workers' compensation audit completions.

  • Previous experience in finance management for charter schools or other non-profit organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance.

  • Proven experience in tax and auditing.

  • Impeccable organizational skills and time management.

  • The ability to complete tasks accurately and on time.

  • Excellent professional communication skills with both team members and clients.

  • Must be able to work in person in our Durham, NC office for 1-3 months for initial training (M-F, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid (after the initial training period).

  • Schedule: M - F, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
